This——> Everything else aside, we don’t owe our kids our whole lives. We certainly don’t owe our grandkids our whole lives. That is a scary, smothering idea of what motherhood means.

Personally, I completely understood why Tessa left. I would have done the same thing. I love the examination of this question,. though, because I think the fact that it was asked shows how deeply ingrained our own views of motherhood as something you are NEVER allowed to deny, no matter the age of your children, is so interesting.
